Envisioned as a festival of nature and sustainability, the European Tree Planting Day aims to raise awareness about climate change, encourage responsibility for our planet’s future, and create a lasting impact through communal action.
Its main goal is to scale up our environmental efforts and draw more attention to the pressing issues facing our planet.
This initiative have been developed by the Life Terra Foundation and Nadace Partnerství.
Together we want to boost our environmental impact and encourage other tree-planting organisations and individuals to contribute to local climate action.
The European Tree Planting Day brings together a diverse network of organisations and NGOs from across Europe, all committed to tackling the climate crisis through collective tree-planting efforts.
By collaborating on this initiative, the organisations amplify their impact, working towards a common goal of restoring ecosystems, reducing carbon emissions, and fostering a sustainable environment for future generations. See who has joined us!
All activities registered under the European Tree Planting Day initiative follow the principles described below:
Biodiversity – all plantings have to be multispecies, involving an average of 5 different kinds of trees to ensure mixed forest stands and rich, biodiverse ecosystems.
"The right tree in the right place" – all events have to consider all the conditions of a terrain and its surrounding area to ensure that the lands restored actually need trees.
Sustainability – a commitment to maintain the new trees over the long term to take full advantage of their carbon capture potential.
Transparency - organisations will have the opportunity to use our state-of-the-art technology platform to geolocalise their planted trees. This will increase your work’s transparency and make your restoration efforts traceable.
Together, we can go further #EUtreeplantingday
