The first edition of the European Tree Planting Day, launched in November 2024, resulted in the planting of over 240,000 trees. Spread across dozens of coordinated events, this initiative gave people the opportunity to take concrete climate action while supporting local restoration efforts. Each event was a step towards increasing Europe's tree cover and contributing to long-term environmental resilience.
Held in 19 countries, the campaign involved schools, municipalities, NGOs, and local partners. From cities to rural areas, it showcased the strength of cross-border collaboration.
Thousands of participants of all ages joined, students, families, communities, proving that tree planting is a simple, powerful, and inclusive way to engage in climate action.
Following the success of the first edition, European Tree Planting Day will return in autumn 2025. Our goal: make it even bigger: more trees, more countries, more people involved.
With climate challenges intensifying, the need for concrete, collective action is more urgent than ever. We’re working to expand the network, reach new communities, and keep growing this movement, one tree, one planting day at a time.
Together, we can go further #EUtreeplantingday
