The Ecoescuela, or Eco-Schools, initiative in Spain focuses on transforming schools into eco-friendly environments where students actively engage in environmental conservation. The program is led by the Foundation for Environmental Education and managed locally by the Asociación de Educación Ambiental y del Consumidor (ADEAC), which oversees more than 450 Eco-Schools throughout Spain. Participating schools implement environmental improvements and promote sustainable practices as part of daily life and learning, following a framework that empowers students to take leadership in initiatives such as waste reduction, energy conservation, and biodiversity preservation.
