Volunteers tree planting activity at Brussegem

On this second planting day, we made an open call for volunteers. Surprisingly, over 10 people showed up. They were tree lovers from Brussels and beyond, originating from the whole world. Contrasting with the first event and its family communal dynamic, this second planting day became an international European tree planting day. Planting near Brussels can have this effect: it brings Europe on the field.

All these volunteers came progressively throughout a beautiful sunny day, giving a little of their time to help us planting these trees and developing this food forest project. This is proof that a food forest not only brings people together during the harvest. Its planting carries as much same social value!

The only difference was the inexperience of some volunteers slowing down the process. Still, around 700 trees were planted with quality. This contribution made a big difference in the realization of this process, while adding a big smile on the face of all participants.

The uncommon flow of people in the quiet village of Brussegem attracted some neighbors again, interested in learning about us, helping with the planting, and even approaching us to discuss a potential collaboration with Life Terra in the future.

This volunteering event became a platform, allowing the encounter of people driven and sensitize to environmental causes and ecological restoration, allowing for knowledge exchange, capacity building, and natural capital enhancement, contributing to the biodiversification of the region and beyond!
