Collective action can have a more significant impact. By joining forces, we bring tree planting and its importance in combating climate change into the spotlight.
In Valezim, Portugal, Associação Reflorestar PT in collaboration with Life Terra brought together 21 dedicated volunteers for a rewarding reforestation day, during which 700 native trees were planted in diverse tree and shrub mixes. The planting followed a random patch layout, spaced 2–3 meters apart to encourage healthy growth and biodiversity. Species such as Pinus pinea, Quercus faginea, Quercus suber, Quercus ilex, Fraxinus angustifolia, Salix atrocinerea, and Castanea sativa now contribute to a more resilient and ecologically rich landscape.
The day began with a warm welcome and safety briefing, followed by coordinated planting sessions across the site. After a well-deserved midday break filled with conversation and shared laughs, volunteers returned to the field to complete the afternoon planting. It was not only a meaningful environmental action but also a fun and socially engaging experience, strengthening community bonds while growing a future forest together.
