Collective action can have a more significant impact. By joining forces, we bring tree planting and its importance in combating climate change into the spotlight.
This November, under a clear blue sky and bright winter sunshine, the volunteers from Adyen Berlin joined Life Terra and aufbuchen e.V. for a day at the “Rieselfelder”, i.e. former sewage irrigation fields around Bernau bei Berlin. The project is about transforming the landscape into a recreational forest.
The area, once used for filtering wastewater, now face challenges such as dry soils, lowered groundwater levels, soil pollutants, and limited vegetation. Our planting efforts contribute to ecological restoration, water balance improvement, pollutant binding, climate adaptation, biodiversity enhancement, habitat conservation, and landscape quality for both nature and people.
Armed with spades, we dug generous holes, each just the diameter of a spade, and planted five young trees of three different species in a group per hole - an approach that encourages competitive growth, mirroring the dynamics of how forests regenerate on their own. Each tree was fitted with an individual protector, ensuring optimal conditions for its development.
This marked Adyen Berlin’s fourth planting day with Life Terra, following earlier spring events in the past years. Germany kicked off Adyen’s planting commitments 25/26 with Life Terra, with other offices set to follow in spring 2026.
