Maintenance and replanting in Santa Clara a Velha

As part of our efforts to provide high-quality Carbon Credits, this year we have replanted 1500 wild strawberry trees (Arbutus unedo) in our Portuguese flagship project: Santa Clara-a-Velha.

This area showed difficult implementation needs, given the previous exhaustion of the soil. Furthermore, wild boars and the Southern Portuguese climate still remain challenging. However, we are proud and happy to see extremely high survival rates and an above-than-average biomass growth year after year!

To further enhance our actions, every year we detect those plants that did not survive, and make an effort to replant them, thus mantaining the ecological restoration active and strong.

We are proud to see that every year the need for replanting is diminished, showing us that this project is already settled and that in a few years we will be able to see a mature, sustainable, native and biodiverse system.
