EY reforestation event at Staelduinse Bos
All participants arrived on time and very motivated. Many already had experience with tree planting events, and we could directly sense it. While the lead-up to the event wasn't auspicious, combining heavy rain and wind, the dramatic weather suddenly stopped when the volunteers started arriving, and we even saw some sun shine. The forester gave a compelling presentation of the planting site and the reasons for the reforestation, which seemed to motivate the participants even more! Without further ado, they all grabbed spades and trees, and engaged in their endeavors energetically. While allowing themselves to have a chat and to joke around, everyone planted seriously and efficiently. They were so quick that the foresters had to fetch more seedlings to be planted. Both the foresters' and our expectations were exceeded, as more than 700 trees were planted within 2 hours of work. They day ended rapidly as the sun went down, and everyone left the planting site satisfied with all the good work accomplished!
