Collective action can have a more significant impact. By joining forces, we bring tree planting and its importance in combating climate change into the spotlight.
The planting activity at The Green Rebel farm in Miravet was an inspiring and hands-on experience for everyone involved. Over the five-day event, 24 students from College Hageveld, accompanied by three teachers, planted 200 trees in Hageveld’s Foodforest, continuing their tradition of planting one tree for each graduating student. The students worked enthusiastically, learning about regenerative agroforestry practices while preparing the soil with biochar, sowing fava beans, and adding mulch and cover crops to ensure the trees thrive in the challenging Mediterranean conditions.
The atmosphere was vibrant, with students enjoying the process of planting and gaining a deeper understanding of how these actions contribute to combating climate change. The weather was cooperative, with sunny days making the work enjoyable. In addition to planting, the group bonded over shared meals they prepared with fresh produce harvested from the farm, creating a strong connection to the land and to each other. This event not only added 200 more trees to the food forest but also planted seeds of awareness and hope in the minds of young people, empowering them to take action for a sustainable future.
